I had high hppes for the recently re-opened Gemini and can say I was very disappointed. The only visible changes I could see were the fireplace in the pool area and the steps up to the seating back where the bands play. It is still a dark and sort of gloomy place (especially in the back part) with bad accoustics, and a clientele of mostly upper class couples - sorry I guess I just don't fit into that demographic. The dance floor is pretty small and the entire area is unfinished concrete, the lighting for the musicians was pretty messed up, there is still the huge bottleneck in the bar span that separates the front from the back, and the drinks seemed pretty skimpy. The only reason I gave them two stars is because our waitress was really good and the place is now non smoking. I highly doubt I will come back again.

Good burger menu. Seating isn't that comfortable. Good bands.

Enjoyed many a pool-playin' beer drinkin' night at the Gemeni back in the early 90's when we lived just 2 blocks away. I went back about a year ago, and it was pretty much the same place. Fun, loud, and great booze. Jesus, I love re-living my youth!! ---------------S

Had a blast, it's very casual for Lake O which I like, Good drinks, nice tables and great seating area for lounging. Our waitress was very attentive and funny. We had chicken strips and the hummus plate, they were both really good and it was a great place for a date.

i like the place alot, and i think i do because I'm not from L.O. maybe thats it or maybe its because the food here is really good i love the fact that they have couches and that they have plenty of different beers to select form. the live music doesn't hurt either. i really just don't have anything wrong to say about the place literally id have to say its one of my favorite spots to go to watch a game because they open up all the windows and so you get the outside feeling while being inside. Also Im a huge fan of their burgers really really good.

We came here cause the other place closed early on a Monday night. We waited for about 7 mins before we were acknowledged. I asked about a particular beer, then opted for a PBR. My friend ordered Guinness & 2 red-headed sluts shots. The "bartender" stated I don't remember how to make those since I've not made one since the jaeger craze. Ok just say you don't know what's in it. I got my beer, looked darker than a PBR & tasted much hoppier too. When I asked her about it she denied it. Like really I know it's dark in here but an IPA has different visual texture & color than a PBR Our redheaded slut shots - well I think I was better off letting a chimp make me drinks. Then to get her attention to tab out and leave. I sadly only drank a few sips of my beer, gave her a $2 tip. I'm too kind sometimes.

Short and sweet. Was here Saturday night for The Trixy and The Nasties show.. Good Burger...Miz Mona raved about the Cobb Salad. Good stiff pours from the bar. EXCELLENT service with plenty of attention from the servers even with a packed house. Great sound quality. A fantastic music venue.

Staff is very unfriendly. They seemed annoyed by every drink order - whether it be a simple beer or a shot of whiskey and the place wasn't even busy! Also the food I ordered was cold. I would have sent it back but I was afraid they were going to spit in it. I want to state my horror of the cover band that was playing that night. The lead singer was so in to herself I thought her head was going to explode. She even at one point forgot the lines to Teen Spirit and had to read them off someone's iPhone. My friends and I might not be in the norm our opinion on how horrible they were since the crowd seemed to enjoy them. Everyone there seemed to be trashed though.

Music good. Service, not so good. I didn't expect much considering it's Lake Oswego, but I won't stop in again unless a good band is playing.

22 years later... has not changed that much. First off... it pains me to realize that it has been that long since I have visited the Gemini. When going to college up the hill from here, my people and I used to hang out here, drink beer and shoot pool by the hour. Outside of moving the pool tables to the front of the bar and a stage in back, it looks much like I remember it. It was perfect for a late night drink, listen to some live music and eat pub food. Our service was solid. The Gemini is what it is and how it looks pretty much describes it. An old school bar from when old school bars were not old school.

There's not many options in Lake Oswego. The Gemini is unfortunately one of them.

Plenty of beers on tap, booths, tables, sofas, bar. Accommodating for any style. Fireplace, patio, billiards, etc. Get the turkey and havarti on a French roll the way they used to serve it (and still do on request). Good stuff.

On the right night the music can be great. But horrible service at the bar. Next time I'll bring my espn game day sign so someone will get the hint that I want a drink. Hint; just go straight to the cocktail waitress and order your drink.

This bar is deceptively HUGE. I had no idea it was so large from the storefront. Live music in the BACK (the very back), giant bar in the middle. I didn't try the food - went for music, and of course drinks. Waitstaff was really friendly, and attentive. It was rare for my drink to run close to dry before they were there to see if I wanted more. Yes, it's a "sales" technique, but who doesn't want their drink constantly full?

Had a good time at Gemini Bar & Grill. I liked the layout and variety of seating and activity areas. Arrived to find my friends at a long table reserved for us. We were there for a John Lennon tribute that was featuring My Girl Whiskey. Enjoyed a better than usual pub sandwich. Nothing spectacular, but certainly better than most pub fare in the area. The place was filled with people watching the Oregon/Stanford game on many TVs and a large screen in the back room. Once the game was over we moved into the backroom for the music. The place was not designed for music performances, but hey, it was cozy and these particular musicians were good so it didn't really matter what kind of lighting or sound system, they would have been good even if the power went off. The drinks were acceptable, but nothing to write home about, I ordered the Mad Coffee off the menu and kind of got the feeling that the waitress and bartender didn't know what it was, none the less, it was served hot and was pretty good. It would have been better if the coffee was better, I don't think they are serving Stumptown here. The portions were generous, the side salad was nice baby greens with some vegis. The Chicken Satay that a friend ordered smelled terrific and she said it was pretty good. The tots off another friend's plate were about what you would expect. The Menu itself is pretty large for pub fare. As I left around midnight, I noticed a nice sized crowd in the front room of people hanging by the fireplace, playing pool, drinking, eating and generally being merry. I'd go back for if I knew the entertainment would be good, and because the atmosphere was comfortable, the prices weren't completely shocking, and hey, it's an easy drive from my neighborhood with plenty of parking.

My first experience here was terrible. A friend and I wanted to grab some food and a quick drink one night so we stopped by Gemini. Upon entering we were completely ignored by the bartender for about five minutes as we stood there and she alternated with looking at her phone and talking to her friends sitting at the bar. She finally asked what we wanted. I asked if the kitchen was still open, she turned around to yell at the guy to not close up. He promptly yelled back profanity. I told her that if it was an issue I would just get a drink. She said no, he was already going to stay, so what did I want to eat. Food and drink were good enough, but upon getting our tickets we were charged full price instead of the happy hour price. The bartender said our order was placed after the cut off time and despite the fact that was due to her ignoring us and not submitting our order for fifteen minutes after ordering, would not change the price. So I was dismayed when a group of of about fifteen friends wanted to meet here one night. I went anyway, and ended up having a really good time. There was a large table of us, and despite this the waitress kept up with all of our drinks and was very sweet. Sure, the other patrons are not exactly my type of people, but we did get the excitement of seeing a woman get kicked out for trying to smoke weed in the bar then argue with the bouncer. All in all, I would not recommend this to anyone, but it is bearable when you are here for a group event.

Nice environment. Staff pretty friendly. The music is geared towards an older crowd (retirement age). Cool pool tables, fireplace, outdoor smoking area.

I've been here a few times - mostly when I am wanting to go out and be social but not go far from home... Every time I've been here the service has been terrible - the staff is actually a little rude - and for what it is - - not worth the price... The crowd is.... well, obnoxious. Mostly young folks (mid-late 20s) when I have been in there and they are usually belligerent, loud and annoying. Of course, I'm not too keen on the Lake Oswego crowd anyhow - so maybe that is just the way kids are in this area. I'd recommend you take your business elsewhere in town if you absolutely must go to a Lake O bar... there are several other establishments in the area that aren't bad. I'd say Gemini is definitely at the bottom of the list.

Maybe it was unusually busy on the Tuesday night that I was here recently but I was pretty horrified by the service. I was there to play in their free poker league which apparently usually has about twice as many poeple there. I have to wonder if most of them don't drink because each time I went to the bar (twice - once to order a beer and back to pay my tab), I had to wait over 10 minutes for service. There isn't a good line up system so everyone just mashes up to the bar. They had only TWO servers on staff for the entire place. There was no table service for the poker players. To top it all off, it was an 80 degree day and their air conditioning wasn't working!! I want to play poker there again so I'm going to give them a second chance. I'll update my review if the service is better next time.

I was pondering the meaning of life in my living room when I got a text message that said, "Want to go with me to Gemini Bar in Lake O?" Hmmm, ponder the meaning of life or go to a bar? Gemini Bar it is! So I end up at the Gemini Bar on a Wednesday night and right when I got in, I noticed a bunch of Lake O's PO PO hanging around the bar area. Hmmm, I guess that makes this place safer than your average bar. There are tables in front with TVs to watch sports games. As you walk towards the back, there are a bunch of slot machines on the left side area with a bunch of middle age gambling addicts. All the way towards the back is a stage and a band was playing that night. My first impression of this area is that it's the barrel room for old people. There were a bunch of people in their late forties engaging in drunken debauchery. A woman in her late forties approached me and told me I was cute. It was a good ego boost until I realized she was telling everyone they were cute! My ego boost instantaneously took a nose dive when I noticed some of the people that she told were cute were in fact NOT cute. The band was awesome! They play there every Wednesday night which makes this place worth checking out on a Wednesday night. They play jazz songs that are written by members of the band and have a lot of interactions with the crowd. The food was actually good, especially for a bar. I had the onion rings and mozzarella sticks. The onion rings are not oily and very tasty. They had one dollar off on all whiskeys. I had a whiskey sour and it was very good. Watching the dance floor filled with people in their late forties grooving to the music was good entertainment within itself. One of the birthday ladies requested the band to play hair metal and the band quickly obliged. The crowd looked like a scene out of the Real Wives of Lake Oswego (who needs cable). As we left, I told my DD that we are going to get pulled over by the cops. Ten minutes on the road, BAM! My psychic abilities were right on. It ended up being just a "courtesy stop." I almost asked the PO PO what he thought of the whiskey sours but I decided to bite my tongue. :)

Was here a little while back for my friends bday. We had a great time, think we almost drank the bar out of liqour. They had a band that night, and they played a ton of Dave Matthews songs, and were actually not terrible. I'm sure my review of the band was helped by the bottle of Patron I drank, but I can't be sure. Decent pool tables I think, but by the end of the night I'm almost certain I tried to use a straw as a pool cue, but we've all been there right?

I used to come here before the remodel. After the remodel, the clientele has changed. I might be the youngest person here besides the servers & some dude that brought his parents....

this place smells gross; like a smoking bar in the middle of a non-smoking-in-establishment-state the food is edible, but i wouldn't call it amazing or even good definitely a bar and not a restaurant

What don't I love about this place. Location is awesome, right near the riverfront on the wilamette downtown Lake Oswego. The decor is nice but relaxed but still a little classy too... definitely not a dive and they have huge fireplaces that keep you warm from the gross Oregon weather. Comfy leather couches around coffee tables and pool tables in front of the huge windows in the front that open in the summer time . The waitresses are always amazing and waiters too. Literally they treat everyone so well. The bar is cute, not trying too hard and there are plenty of tvs all around so you don't miss a single game. But the tvs aren't blaring so you can still relax and do your thing while the guys cringe at the game. But seriously, the food. The pizza, salads, burgers, chicken strips, quesadillas, wraps... I love it all. And the drinks are awesome too. It's a really awesome place to go in the summer. There are plenty of seating areas out front and also in the back where you're able to bring your dog's while you relax and have a drink.

Drove up from Oakland to catch a show at this venue. First impression was the joint was legit. The pool tables are in front and the stage is in the back. The bar is down the middle, so the space is well designed. Really enjoyed the show and the drinks were reasonably priced. The sound quality was top notch, so bands considering this venue, you have no worries.

This place was pretty dead when I went in, but the bartender Megan seemed to know every person that walked in. She was very attentive and friendly to me, and always got me another beer before I was completely finished with the one I had. I got a pizza ( their special on Mondays) and it was delicious! I definitely recommend this place if you're in town.

Some very rude person who works here pulled our table away from where we were preparing for lunch to put up a ladder and hang a sign. They believe that they must do ridiculous work like like that when there are customers paying money to eat lunch?

Another great night of music with the Ian James Band. This is such an awesome place when not packed. Tonight was a good crowd but able to get around pretty easy. I had the steak bites tonight and they were delicious. The server was fantastic. She was very busy but kept a smile nonetheless. She was the only one in the music area but somehow stayed on top of things and was very nice and personable to everyone while she busted her ass. A huge thank you to whoever you are. Aug. 15th from 8:00 til midnight I was there.

The food here continues to be great. They must have a good executive cook on board. Have had the prime rib twice in the past month. It's great!

Good place to grab a drink with friends, pretty much a typical bar. Decent prices on drinks and the service was good. They occasionally have live music. It can get pretty loud on the weekend, but that's expected at a bar right? Lots of different areas to sit. If you're looking for a bar downtown lake oswego it's a good place to check out.

  • Jessica K.

First and foremost, this dark, cozy bar is a prime spot to watch a game in this area with plenty of tv screens and seating options including couches, bar stools, tables, etc. Apparently they are even more known for their live music, but I haven't been here for that yet. Mainly I come here for happy hour which offers food and drink specials. For happy hour I really like their black bean rolls and the hummus plate, but you can also get nachos, sliders, wings, etc. Also... Beer. Their taplist isn't too bad, could always be better but I usually find something worthwhile here. For lunch and dinner they have burgers, salads, pizza, etc, all making it hard for me to leave any visit with an empty stomach. In nicer weather I really enjoy the back patio or the tables in front. The staff here couldn't be friendlier, even on the many occasions I have been here with large groups. The Gemini is just the kind of unpretentious place Lake Oswego needs to keep around.
